Hhhh: he does have a professional 3d animation background. he's mentioned that before. blender doesnt instantly make you better, neither does 3dsmax/maya/etc. it just has more features and capability and thus a higher bar of entry.
speedlot: Yeah not to shit on any SFM artists, they all know what they are doing better than me, but it's not like if you take your average SFM arist and teach them to use blender they'll instantly be able to do the amazing hair effects and stuff.
kawaiidetective: @Master69: for me? 100% render time. I can make animations in blender fine but everything I make would require multiple days of render time. Something done with the same type of passes pew uses would take a week or so of just rendering. He has said before his take about 12 hours for a 2 - 3 second clip. If anything hair etc can be easier in blender just cause you don't even have to animate it - you can bone the model and do the jiggle procedurally, same with collisions and constraints which SFM cant do
