Some ask for a model, they refuse to make public because reasons, rejected artists start their group and make models but then they don't share cos they don't want their models used by the people that wouldn't let them have their models.

Gate-keeping is just a reality we have to deal with in 3D animation now. Like you said, teach a man to fish and feed them for life. But in this case it's "fuck you, go learn to fish" without sending them with any direction. Now to be fair, they don't have to be nice or share their works. But they sure aren't creating lasting peace by building resentment to people they turn away. A little kindness goes a long way and a polite rejection/explanation of why they are protective of their models would make for less resentment.
Also the Deviant Art model extractors is funny, because as you put it these guys extract game files to make raw 3D models. But then get in knots when people use it to make porn and scream like a woman clutching her pearls and how it's immoral to do so. A moralist in an art community is the fucking worst.
