Colonel_Mael_Radec: @UnderCoverFap: Unfortunately, my understanding is they legally have to exert their copyright and make *every* hill one to die on, or else they could lose the IPs. They saw it first hand in the 80s when they won in court against Universal over the use of "Kong" in Donkey Kong. They've never been big hardware titans and their near-total focus is on game development, unlike PlayStation, couched by Sony, and Xbox, couched by Microsoft.
